Dyce Swimmers Get Competitive Edge With Kit Donation

Youngsters from Dyce Amateur Swimming Club are making a splash after global consulting and engineering firm Pöyry donated more than £1,000 worth of T-shirts to the group.

The club’s budding swimmers, who are aged between nine and 18 years-old, needed a standard uniform to represent the club at competitions throughout the north east and turned to Pöyry for help.

David Downie, head coach at the swimming club said: “The swimmers love taking part in swimming competitions. When we attend events the team needs to be dressed in the same way as it helps the swimmers feel part of a team and it positively boosts Club Identity and morale.  Getting the right kit can be a challenge. It’s fantastic that Pöyry has been kind enough to donate these great T-shirts and we look forward to showing off the new tops on the winner’s podium!”

The club unveiled the T-shirts at their Club Championship on Sunday (30th November 2008) at Bridge of Don Academy where they competed against each other to win Championship titles.

Pöyry, based in The Exchange, Market Street, provides multi discipline support to oil and gas operators throughout the lifecycle of a project. Its clients include major multi national operators, national oil companies and smaller independent operators.

Steve Martin, operations director at Pöyry in Aberdeen said: “We’re delighted to be able to help the swimming club in this way. The company is committed to helping young people achieve their potential and this is a great fit with that ethos. We wish the club every success with their future competitions.”

Dyce Amateur Swimming Club has been running for more than 30 years and is run by parents on a voluntary basis. It currently has 41 competitive swimmers and almost 80 youngsters who attend its Learn To Swim classes. Dyce ASC always welcomes new members.
