Pöyry Puts Best Foot Forward in Memory of Former Colleague

Staff at an Aberdeen engineering company are hoping to raise thousands of pounds for charity when they take part in the Garioch fun run on Sunday (29 March 2009).

Employees at Pöyry, in Market Street will be running in memory of their former colleague Fiona Fuller, of Inverbervie, who died suddenly last year. More than 30 friends, colleagues and associates have so far raised more than £3,000 of sponsorship in aid of the National Association for Colitis and Crohn’s Disease (NACC) – a charity supported by Fiona.

Steve Fogg, Pöyry’s president oil and gas Europe, said: “Fiona completed the run, her first 10k, in 2007. She was thrilled at her achievement and we feel that it is fitting that we have chosen Garioch to mark our respect for her.”

Fiona joined the company after graduating from Robert Gordon’s University (RGU) with a Bachelor of Arts in Commerce with Distinction in 1993. She started out as an administration manager and progressed to business services director, being promoted to the board of directors in 2003.

Fiona, who was well respected among the local business community, was recognised as having exceptional interpersonal skills. Following the acquisition of IGL by Pöyry in 2006, Fiona was responsible for the integration of IGL’s global businesses within the Pöyry group, which she completed in 2007. She specialised latterly in Human Resources, which involved developing the Group recruitment strategy and managing the execution of HR initiatives.

Grant Fuller, Fiona’s husband added: "Fiona had developed a real passion for running and she would have been, as I am, extremely touched by so many of her dear friends and colleagues expressing their love and support in this way, in what was a very special event to Fiona."

The Garioch 10km run will take place on Sunday 29th March. Anyone who would like to sponsor the team is invited to visit www.justgiving.com/garioch10kfunrun
